Electricity / Power Generators ~ Diesel or LPG

Generators can be either diesel or LPG driven. Genkit's generators can be installed as stand-alone backup units that manually or auto-start when required, eg. when normal grid power is lost. Or the generator may be part of a stand alone system, where it auto-starts to charge a battery bank, or supplement power if solar or wind energy is lost.

Mode Of Operation Specifications

Keystart Specification
For local on plant control. Standard features as detailed above with the control system mounted in a panel on a vibration isolated support and including:

  • Module incorporating voltmeter, ammeter, frequency meter and hours run counter.
  • Meter selector switch for single phase 3 wire outputs and 3 phase outputs.
  • Module incorporating oil pressure, coolant temperature and battery condition indicators.
  • Control module for key start operation.
  • Shutdown for low oil pressure and high coolant temperature with separate LED indicators.
  • Battery charge failure LED indication.
  • DC control circuit protection.
  • Plant output ciruit breaker.

Automatic Electric Start
For remote operation with local control selection and on plant operation. All features detailed for the KEY START Specification but with an enhanced AUTO START Control Module for remote operation over a 2 wire circuit, incorporating:

  • Control mode selector switch.
  • Overspeed shutdown.
  • Timer circuits ~ factory preset for specific applications.
  • Protection override timer circuits for the starting period.
  • 3 attempt starter motor cranking timer circuit.

Automatic Mains Failure
Fully automatic operation to supply the load in the event of a failure of the mains supply. All features detailed for the KEY START Specification but with an enhanced AUTO START Control Module for remote operation incorporating:

  • Control mode selector switch.
  • Overspeed shutdown with LED indication.
  • Timer circuits ~ factory preset for delay.
  • Protection override timer circuits for the starting period.
  • Mains powered automatic battery charger.
Separate wall mounting cubicle with the following:
  • Mains supply monitor to control the set operation.
  • Mechanically and electrically interlocked transfer contactors rated for the set output.
  • Mains on load/plant on load indications.
  • Plant contactor emergency operation selector switch.

Rating Definitions to ISO 8528-1

Rating Conditions
A standard generating set is designed to operate in environmental conditions not exceeding an air inlet temperature of 25 C (77 F), altitude (above sea level) 152.4 metres (500 feet) and a relative humidity of 60%.

Prime Power
This rating is for the supply of continuous electrical power (at variable load) in lieu of commercially purchased power. There is no limitation on the annual hours of operation and 10% overload power can be supplied for 1 hour in 12 hours.

Standby Power
This rating is for the supply of continuous electrical power (at variable load) in the event of a utility power failure. No overload is permitted.
